Anyway, Gi-ne liked Stocking from early on personally and would have liked her a lot more if she weren't a General. As it was, during those first few days Gi-ne was actually really focused on looking for potential threats to their group. She decided pretty quickly that she had no idea who the Foxes were or how to find them, so she just worked on picking out the other threats and leaving that problem to the others. Stocking made the cut really quickly when she and Rei jumped to the conclusion that the Foxhounds were other players. They were technically wrong but they were right about there being more than one enemy hiding in the group and that made Gi-ne nervous! Stocking was also loud, bossy and good at getting people organised, something Gi-ne noticed quickly. In the first couple of trials that wasn't a problem and was something the Generas actually appreciated, but she could see it becoming a problem before too long. Stocking was also a lot more physically capable than Rei, which in Gi-ne's mind made her more of a threat.
Basically, Gi-ne was gunning for Stocking since night 1. They decided to go for Ema instead, but Stocking could have died a lot earlier than she did haha. The second trial helped Gi-ne see the above mentioned traits and she spent most of the trial playing the assistant in terms of finding the truth, etc. But really she was watching for threats and making sure the trial stayed focused on swords but not on Hijikata and Tsurumaru, at the same time. It went incredibly well! So much time wasted on examining everyone's weapons! Which was also helpful in terms of giving the Generals information on what everyone was carrying! Thank you, Stocking!
That night Stocking's name came up as a potential victim again, but they ended up deciding to go for a more medium level threat to avoid the Rainsford. In doing so they found the Zaroff, which is all you really need to know to understand how the Generals worked. All of them were annoyed as hell about not being able to go after Shijima and I know at least Orion and Gi-ne decided to make an effort to go after her during the day instead. But in the meantime, they still had to pick a night victim. They were running low on time and Gi-ne still thought Stocking was a threat... Plus, it looked like she was a friend of Shijima's, sort of...
Yeah, picking Stocking was at least partly out of spite at that point SORRY. Anyway, it'd already been mostly decided that Gi-ne would be the one to act that night so she went out to fight Stocking. Again, on a personal level, she quite liked Stocking. She was a threat, which coloured all of Gi-ne's opinions that early in the game, but she respected her. So Gi-ne dragged the fight out long enough to give Stocking a chance to fight back, even if the odds were unfairly stacked against her. She really admired Stocking fighting for her life like that! She wasn't expecting her to last as long as she did! Stocking was Gi-ne's first real kill in several years, for the record, and it did effect her emotionally. She didn't enjoy the kill but she just sucked it up and dealt with it, really. When it came to the killing blow, Gi-ne was driven by two desires. Making it quick and merciful but also spiting Shijima. Decapitation looked like it would finish Stocking quickly, Gi-ne knew how to do it well and it meant that Shijima wouldn't be able to do it herself. Petty, maybe, but still. Apparently it worked??? But she was pretty pissed off the next day when she saw how Shijima had decided to retaliate.
ANYWAY days went past. Gi-ne died herself. She was a little worried about Stocking in the graveyard, because she did feel guilty about her death and was hoping they could make up and be friends. And they did! Stocking was cool about it! Gi-ne appreciated that and was able to like Stocking much more sincerely after it. Yay.
