to be honest, he didn’t have much of an opinion about her in the beginning, other than the fact that she didn’t seem to be squeamish when it came to murder. she also seemed like a pretty responsible adult, so he decided to trust her and leave leadership of their group in her hands. etc, etc, all that good stuff.

but things started shifting again around n3 and afterwards, which is ironically when he started opening his heart to the murderfamily… GOTTA LET GO OF A FEW COMRADES TO OPEN THE HEART UP…. when she scolded hijikata, it made him laugh a bit, because even though he was getting lectured by hinata at the time (who is less effective at this thing), it still made him really happy, because it felt like a family.

AND IT STILL MAKES ME LAUGH…. how hijikata and tsurumaru tried to sneak out again for murdertimes after gi-ne died, but they were blocked by the rainsford……. being grounded never ends??

and then in graveyard, i think they bonded even more… HAHA TO BE HONEST the gun thing on n5 was kind of arranged, and i knew tsuru was going to die, so that was the reason behind “why did you pick kashuu”. i kind of had to scrounge for an IC reason, but i think the one he gave suits him just fine, because it is true... he does want to die AND IF HE WASN’T MAFIA, HE’D BE JUST AS PASSIVELY ACTIVE ON WANTING TO DIE as much as souza was….

but when gi-ne hugged him and cried and basically gave the impression that his response hurt her, he was genuinely shocked? because he’s not used to people caring about him to that degree…. he wants to see how much he can hurt before he dies……. and it’s not just a Kinky Thing, he really is carefree with his life and gets his clothes spattered with blood and then he makes this lame ass comment about how it makes him look like a crane even if his guts are everywhere and he’s dying…. BASICALLY… HE HAS ZERO SELF-CARE

however!! when she made it clear to him how important he and the rest of the murderfam were to her, he decided that he’d start looking out for himself, since now he feels that he has a proper reason to live.

so, to quickly explain that attachment thing that gi-ne finds odd:

to put tsurumaru’s history into a human situation, he’s like a child that’s moved from adopted house to house, because all of the parents that adopted him kept dying. basically, it’s why he’s horrible with attachment — he just doesn’t feel it, 99% of the time. loyalty is also kind of ambiguous with him, because he doesn’t let himself feel strongly about anything.

however… what this also means is that in the 1% rare case of group of people somehow managing to find places in his heart, he’s going to be the polar opposite of that. he’ll do whatever he can to cling and weave his way into their hearts, and make himself mean as much to them as they do to him. and if she hasn’t noticed already, he uses his incredibly childish nature to his favor. calling her ‘mom’ is one of the ways that tsuru tries to accomplish this….. he hopes that if he calls her mom, she’ll feel obligated to dote over him and not abandon him…….

TYPING THIS OUT…. IT DOES SOUND KIND OF….. REALLY.... MANIPULATIVE…. BUT HE DOES MEAN WELL……….
