when he first met hijikata, he’d only heard of him through horikawa and izuminokami, and at first, tsurumaru thought, oh, that’s where izuminokami's long hair comes from. on the first day, when they were building their fake non-mafia cr, tsurumaru remembers what hijikata said about being a good master to his swords, and it really resonated with him, even if it ended up confusing him a whole lot, since he doesn’t know what it’s like to have nice masters!! and that led to his curiosity growing later on. even if their paths in history never crossed, tsurumaru still wanted to see for himself what sort of a master that hijikata was.

HAHA NIGHT THREE OH…. that was a bonding experience. aside from us pre-charting horikawa’s murder out on skype even before day 3 (and our reason being that sho will love this, which she did, even though hori won’t), the whole murder was pretty symbolic to tsurumaru. it was hijikata holding his own sword down so that tsurumaru could rip him open and kill him in a pretty grotesque way and crush him in every inhumane way possible. it also let him know that hijikata is also….. on board with torture methods…….

after that passed, tsurumaru started getting really, really fond of hijikata. at that point, the whole murderfam was slowly growing on him and opening his heart, so it was kind of expedited that way, but especially hijikata. asking him to talk about his actual feelings gets a little fuzzy, in more ways than one — he’s a sword, but he’s sure that a lot of human emotion that he couldn’t understand came with his feelings. but all he knows that his heart felt doki doki™ whenever he received attention from hiji, and tsurumaru is the kind of sword that doesn’t allow himself to feel the doki doki™ feeling too often, so it confused him...

AND NIGHT FIVE WAS JUST (spicy emote)…. tsuru had to get last minute spicies before kasen killed him? i tried on purpose to make it sound like... it came out of a doujin….. i’m laughing so hard?? if anyone else is reading this and thought the same... it was my intention to go completely overboard with everything he said……….

in the graveyard, tsurumaru wanted to cry when he saw hijikata’s body, and he also wanted to cry once hijikata officially got to the grave, because where was the do-s, demon vice commander that he so admired?? all he saw was a broken shell of the man that he once was… but everything turned out okay in endgame and hiji was okay again!!! and tsuru even got to check off the final item on his bucket list during endgame...

and you know what... i can’t believe hijikata went to go get his memories back after everything that tsuru did and said in endgame, TSURU'S GOING TO KICK HIJI’S ASS ONCE HE SEES HIM AGAIN!!!!
