God okay so I was expecting them to hate each other all game too I WAS READY FOR IT. They were yelling at each other in Generals' duties, they were yelling at each other at breakfast IT JUST NEVER ENDED. They were going to hate each nO MATTER WHAT and nothing would change that. And that probably would've been what had happened if they weren't part of the murderfam.
But slowly, despite herself, Clarine grew really fond of him. It didn't happen for awhile, but she saw him taking care of Tsurumaru and that was a huge help. She started to realize that he wasn't stoic and mean all the time--there was more to him than that. And then he comforted her after Gi-ne's death, and that was a Huge Thing for her. It made her realize that even if he didn't like her, he was still taking care of her, and she had to let go of her preconceived notions and try to get to know him with a fresh mindset.
And from that mindset she realized that he was pretty admirable in his own ways. He was strong, and incredibly loyal to the Shinsengumi. She honestly thought that they were really lucky to have a commander who would do just about anything to take care of them, even to the point of his own death. That's what the famous and incredible commanders of storybook and legend were like, after all. To meet someone who held that strongly to his beliefs in life was really amazing too.
And there's also the fact that they just...had to get along. They were stuck together, and in close proximity, and had to work together. They were also the only people who could understand what each other was going through, and that was incredibly important too. SHE BONDED WITH HIM A LOT OUT OF NECESSITY AT FIRST and then she realized that hey....he's actually a pretty good guy...
She yelled at him for the rope because she was honestly worried that he'd get lynched you know. DUMB MURDERDAD. And she and Hinata were so angry that he died because they were depending on him, and losing him was a punch to the gut. He was all they had left, and he was in essence their guiding force AND THEN HE WAS GONE.
So yeah basically, she really admires Hijikata and she's actually a little jealous of the Shinsengumi because he's so devoted to them and she wants a little of that devotion herself.... pls..... pls notice her................
ahem but yeah she loves murderdad and grew to really think he's a pretty good guy and the fact that she thinks he won't remember them does hurt her, though she understands his reasoning maybe more than you'd expect. She's a soldier too and she understands why someone would have to be that devoted to their cause.
SO YEAH she really loves murderdad now and he's part of her murderfam :'( remember her murderdad
