clarines and hinatas opinions are almost the same bc they're like a pair.. laughs,

OKAY! First Impression: Average, boring, probably going to be useless as well! To put it bluntly at least. Hinata and Clarine are probably the only in the murderfam that got those kind of first impressions! Oops. But yeah, he found it kind of annoying that Hinata kept TRYING to tell Hijikata how he should murder, how he should not like hey he's 32 years old he knows how to kill geez hinata- how about YOU try (looks at the Mattson log). Of course, his opinion still didn't budge for the most part when Gi-ne kept talking about how the body's shouldn't look so grotesque because of the kids like dang, these kids are gonna see dead bodies anyway why are you sheltering them/??? USELESS!

But yes.

So Anyway: Like with Clarine, his opinion about Hinata changed around Night 4-5ish. That's when he realized he actually became rather attached to the murderfam in general, so after Gi-ne died he would.. Try his best to protect the kids! So that was when he honestly softened a bit and tried to be a good "adult" figure for once (Good as in... As good as hijikata can get? Lmao).

LIKE he was actually really worried when the kids agreed to go out on their murder together. Like he knew clarine already went with gi-ne but damn, he was still worried no matter what. Honestly, a part of him wanted to volunteer instead to take out Matt, but at the same time he realized how important Matt was to him. So it'd be the honourable thing to do to let the kids take out the person they truly cared about! Which... was a good idea because you know Hijikata was pretty shaken about Souji's death and how he would deal with it by taking it out on matt would Not Be A Good Idea.

Dying practically devastated hijikata?? Honestly... Like, okay, he would die for the Shinsengumi no problem. But even in his CD he made a promise to come back, to return to the one he loves so that's why he began to hesitate about death, ultimately fearing it. AND THAT'S ALMOST WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED.. About the breakfast fiasco. He made that promise and didn't keep it because he died. So yeah, he definitely worried about the kids 10x more in the GY especially when he couldn't be there physically to protect them.

overall: By the end of Shiptrap Hinata could definitely be considered a son to Hijikata, which he'll never admit (like Clarine)... Although, he'll definitely show his love and affection in his own special ways, mostly tough love. So in a sense it'd be obvious to tell Hijikata likes hinata even though he says otherwise! Like hey now he has a #REP to keep up about being the Demon vice captain so :9 don't ruin his cool!

But he still thinks he sucks at wooing the ladies.
